What is the most intense outdoor adventure you've experienced?

Oh man… hard to choose. That’s either gotta be 4 hours by float plane to the far north of Manitoba for some epic Walleye fishing or a full day skin (straight up both ways of course) to catch some backcountry pow outside of Aspen. Both are top contenders.

How does nature and/or outdoor adventuring inspire your art?

The outdoors play a huge role in my work. A lot of my design work features outdoor scenes and getaways, including what’s been illustrated for Wildbird! Creating artwork and adventuring outside offer a similar zen to my life that I desperately need.

Are there any nature enthusiasts/outdoor adventurists that particularly inspire you?

The photography of Chris Burkard is a huge inspiration of mine as it has been for many in the Instagram age. His ability to capture photographs which are not just technically/aesthetically sound but also jaw-dropping continually blows my mind. His life is a total adventure and I look up to …

What music accompanies you outdoors?

M83, St. Lucia, Washed Out, Naked and Famous, The Civil Wars, Lord Huron, First Aid Kit… you name it. Pretty much anything I can accompany with floating through snow on my board!

Favorite meal to eat in the backcountry?

Steak, campfire eggs, potatoes. If it’s cooked over open flame, I’m on it.

What is your most prized piece of gear?

Again, tied between my Weston Backcountry splitboard or my Tentsile. Since I’m an avid boarder and camper, I gotta have a favorite per season!

Blister tape. I’ve given up on trying to soothe my lips in Colorado but I’ll always need my feet to do what I love.
